We are currently experiencing unprecedented demand for practice services. This is impacting the number of calls the practice receives each day. In order to help reduce the need for patients to phone the practice and we are introducing the below form for ordering repeat/acute prescriptions.
This service is subject to the usual practice policies about appropriate prescription requests, time-frames and selection of available pharmacies – we would in particular note that:
- We aim for prescription requests to be with the appropriate pharmacy within 4 working days. If you order an acute (special request) item, it requires clinical review and may not arrive at the same time as a repeat (regular) prescription.
- We are only in contact about this where there are concerns/queries around the medication – we do not contact you with confirmation that the medication has been issued, as we have too many requests each day for this to be practical.
- If you require the medication the same day because you have run out, please speak to your pharmacy about an emergency supply – we cannot guarantee a same-day turnaround for prescription requests.
- We would ask that you contact your chosen pharmacy to chase up requests after 4 days, prior to contacting the surgery – if they do not have the prescription, please phone to let us know.
- Where you require an earlier supply due to going on holiday or away for some time, please ensure you note this in the “Special Medication” section, as our staff will reject any request that is too early with no explanation.
If you are signed up for Patient Access, this can be found at the following site: https://www.patientaccess.com/ – please note that we are not currently accepting new registrations for this service, due to an upcoming change to this service.
Please note that this service should not be used to request medical advice – this can be done through our eConsult service.
